Students learn together and collaborate in real time.
Learning is a deeply social activity and children need moments of meaningful connection. They will use Synchronous sessions to build a relationship with their Learning Teachers. In the Foundation Phase we practice ‘looping’. This means that the same activators will stay with your child for more than one year to facilitate a deeper relationship and understanding of their unique needs. Much of the Synchronous time will be spent in discussions and collaborative learning with peers. We will be teaching our students how to collaborate before we expect them to do so. Students will attend scheduled group sessions and, at times, will schedule their own to complete the tasks.
Students learn on their own, at their own pace following a personalised schedule.
In a traditional classroom, a teacher does not have the tools to focus on the mastery of each student before they must move on to the next topic. Children struggle due to gaps from previous years then fall further behind and become frustrated. Often, children are not challenged by the work and become bored. Both problems lead children to disengage from their learning and lose interest in the topic. The Asynchronous Evolve Online School approach follows the individual progress of each child. Students move forward only when they are ready to do so, and once they have mastered each Item. They can also take a step back and address specific gaps without feeling rushed or self-conscious. The phased structure of this approach also allows students who excel in a specific subject to advance to work that challenges them, without having to wait for the whole class to catch up. The ability to master topics faster if they are eager keeps learners engaged.
