The Cambridge IGCSE curriculum offers a variety of routes for learners with a wide range of abilities, including those whose first language is not English.

English - First Language

Cambridge IGCSE (9–1) First Language English is designed for learners whose first language is English.


  • Develop the ability to communicate clearly, accurately and effectively when speaking and writing
  • Use a wide range of vocabulary, and the correct grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Develop a personal style and an awareness of the audience being addressed.
  • Learners are also encouraged to read widely, both for their own enjoyment and to further their awareness of the ways in which English can be used. Cambridge IGCSE (9–1) First Language English also develops more general analysis and communication skills such as inference and the ability to order facts and present opinions effectively.

Literature in English

The curriculum enables learners to read, interpret and evaluate texts through studying literature in English. Learners develop an understanding of literal meanings, relevant contexts, and deeper themes and attitudes that can be expressed. Through their study, they come to recognize and understand how writers use English to achieve different effects and provide well-informed and personal answers to the material they are studying.

 

The curriculum also encourages the exploration of broader and more universal subjects, encouraging learners to better understand themselves and the world around them.

Afrikaans as a Second Language

Cambridge IGCSE Afrikaans as a Second Language is for learners who already have a basic knowledge of the language


Curriculum:

  • Suitable for learners whose native language is not Afrikaans
  • Develops the learner's ability to understand and use Afrikaans in a variety of situations
  • Improve learners' awareness of the nature of language and their language learning skills of reading, writing and listening.
  • Focuses on everyday, practical communication, which can also form the basis for more in-depth language study

isiZulu as a Second Language

Cambridge IGCSE Second Language IsiZulu is designed for learners who already have a working knowledge of the language and who want to consolidate their understanding in order to progress in their academic or professional career.

 

The qualification reflects the widespread use of isiZulu in education and commerce, and also in entertainment, throughout Southern Africa. Through their studies, learners will gain an understanding of how to use isiZulu effectively in the type of situations, and isiZulu-speaking environments, they will encounter in their daily lives. The aim is to achieve a level of practical communication ideal for everyday use, which can also form the basis for further, more in-depth language study.

Mathematics

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics encourages learners to develop their mathematics skills as an important life skill and as a strong foundation to support further mathematics study and skills in other subjects.

 

  • Develops the learner's ability to apply techniques with and without a calculator, confidence, and fluency, and develops mathematical understanding.
  • It develops learners' senses of volume, patterns, and relationships, and fosters learners' logical and analytical skills.
  • Emphasis on solving problems in mathematics and real-world contexts.
  • It encourages proper presentation and interpretation of results and facilitates learners' understanding of how to communicate and how to reason mathematically. It is graded to enable candidates of all abilities to achieve and progress in mathematics degrees. promotes appropriate presentation and interpretation of results, encouraging learners’ understanding of how to communicate and reason mathematically.

Mathematics Additional

Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics encourages learners to further develop their mathematics skills through problem-solving and provides a strong advance for advanced study in mathematics or computationally intensive subjects.


  • Develop more capable candidates and provide a smooth transition to Cambridge International AS & A Level Mathematics.
  • It enhances the learner's ability, confidence, and fluency in using calculators and handheld technology, and enhances their mathematical comprehension and communication skills.
  • It enriches the learner's understanding of relationships within mathematics and sharpens the learner's reasoning and analytical skills.
  • Fluent and confident ability to solve abstract math problems is required. Improve learners' ability to communicate mathematically and justify reasons with structured arguments.

Cambridge IGCSE Physics helps learners understand the technological world in which they live and develop an interest in science and scientific developments. The syllabus includes an emphasis on fundamental principles and concepts underlying the subject, current applications of physics, and practical skills.

 

  • Learners also develop an understanding of the scientific skills essential for progression to Cambridge International AS&A levels, further education, or a science-related career.

Chemistry

Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry helps learners understand the technological world they live in and develops an interest in science and scientific developments. Geography

Through the Cambridge IGCSE geography curriculum, learners develop a 'sense of place' by seeing the world around them on a local, regional and global scale. Learners explore a variety of natural and man-made environments to explore some of the processes that influenced development. They also look at how people interact with their environment, the opportunities and challenges that the environment can offer, and give greater insight into the diverse communities and cultures that exist around the world.

Business Studies

The Cambridge IGCSE Business Studies curriculum develops learners' understanding of doing business in the public and private sectors and the importance of innovation and change. Learners will learn how the main types of business organizations are formed, funded, and managed, and how their activities are regulated. Factors influencing business decisions are considered, as are the core values of collaboration and interdependence.

 

Learners not only learn business concepts and techniques but also improve related skills such as calculus and research. The curriculum provides both the foundation for further study at Cambridge International A Levels and ideal preparation for the world of work.

Information and Communication Technology

Students develop an understanding of the impact technology has on society and how information and communication technology (ICT) can help them at home, at work, and around the world. Through hands-on and theoretical learning, students use a variety of popular software such as word processing and interactive presentation software to solve problems.

 

Learners analyze, design, implement, test, and evaluate ICT systems to ensure that they are fit for purpose. The focus is on developing essential lifelong skills throughout the curriculum and future careers.

Physical requirements

All IGCSE Evolvees will need:

    capabilities that your child has access to throughout the day.
    If you have more than one child, each needs their
    own computer or laptop set up.

Evolvees complete work & assignments

Evolvees follows their teacher’s instructions to complete the tasks required and joins scheduled group classes. The Evolvee attends catch-up sessions with their teacher, if required, and takes part in group discussions and assignments. The Evolvee logs in to the Learning Management System and systematically work through the content and when mastery is achieved, they can move straight onto the next section. Evolvees are also responsible for submitting assessments and assignments as indicated on the Learning Management System.

Parents assist

Parents check up on progress made and keep an eye on the student’s time management skills and regularly checks assessments and assignments that have been allocated to the student. Parents facilitate and monitor any formal assessments, download tests and exams when needed and submitting completed tests on the assessment section on the Learning Management System.

Teachers
guide the journey

Our teachers communicate learning outcomes to the student and presents scheduled group classes. The teacher follows up with each student personally to guide their progress, schedules and presents extra activation classes for students who need extra help, checks in on the mastery of learning outcomes, and follows the student’s progress on the Learning Management System.

Life Coaches
help navigate

While you are the most important coach in the life of your IGCSE Phase child, we also have a qualified life coach who is equipped to engagingly interact with your child and help them grasp basic skills, navigate life, and verbalise their emotions. Our life coaches play a key role at our day camps where they interact with each child.

  • The foundation phase is one in which you as a parent have a crucial role to play.

    Your child’s teacher is a knowledgeable foundation phase teacher who will assist and advise you at every step in the educational journey of your child. They will check in with you personally every week to discuss requirements and progress, and will help you assess your child’s mastery of concepts and activities. They also facilitate the live group classes that your child attends.

    Your child's teacher is a knowledgeable and passionate senior phase teacher who will assist and advise you at every step in the educational journey of your child. They will provide a framework of what exactly what needs to be done and will mainly be responsible for assessing your child’s mastery of concepts and activities. If your child has trouble with a certain concept, they will schedule activation sessions to assist in mastering that particular hurdle.
