Lower Secondary

Ages 11 to 14 (Grades/Stages 7 to 8)

Cambridge Lower Secondary is typically for learners aged 11 to 14 years. It helps you prepare students for the next step of their education, providing a clear path as they progress through the Cambridge Pathway in an age-appropriate way.

Mathematics

In our Cambridge curriculum, lower secondary mathematics helps our learners to think analytically and have critical reasoning abilities. Our mathematics curriculum encourages life-long motivation for rational thinking.

English

With our Cambridge curriculum, Lower Secondary English encourages a lifelong enthusiasm for reading, writing and speaking communication. Learners develop their English skills for different purposes and audiences.

This syllabus is aimed at native English learners and can be used in any cultural context.

Science

Our insightful Lower Secondary Science curriculum enables learners to develop a lifelong curiosity about nature and seek scientific explanations for the phenomena around them.

Computing

A new computing curriculum helps learners understand how computers work. This exciting course takes students inside a computer to understand the purpose of its various components. They develop their programming skills in text-based programming languages like Python and learn that computers can only perform actions that humans ask them to perform.

Afrikaans

With the Cambridge curiculum, Afrikaans as a Second Language is for learners who already have a basic knowledge of the language.

  • Suitable for learners whose native language is not Afrikaans
  • Develops the learner's ability to understand and use Afrikaans in a variety of situations
  • Improve learners' awareness of the nature of language and language learning skills in reading, writing and listening.
  • It focuses on everyday, practical communication, which also serves as a foundation for in-depth language study.
