Upper Primary

Ages 8 to 11 (Grades 4 to 6)(Stage 4 to 6)

Cambridge Primary starts learners on an exciting educational journey.

Typically for 5 to 11 year olds, it provides a strong foundation for students at the

beginning of their schooling before progressing through the Cambridge Pathway

in an age-appropriate way.

Our tailored approach

Our phased approach to online primary schooling allows students to spend time on subjects they struggle with, and master topics faster in areas of interest and natural ability. This means that they might technically be in Grade/Stage 5, but can start with Grade/Stage 4 content in certain subjects to help lay solid foundations and build up their mastery. The same child can also move forward in another subject to work that is typically only accessible in Grade/Stage 6, if they show the aptitude for it.

Mathematics

The Camridge curriculum, Primary Mathematics nurtures and motivates the ability to learn analytical and logical thinking for learners. Our learners will acquire a general understanding of the mathematical subject, primarily focusing on the basic principles, patterns, systems, and functions of mathematics.

English

The Camridge curriculum, English is taken as the first language for learners. The curriculum encourages literature, writing skills, and spoken communication. This develops and equips learners with transferable language skills for interrogating and producing spoken or written texts and working collaboratively.

Science

In our Camridge curriculum, science assists learners with understanding the development of the natural world and helps them seek scientific justifications for phenomena that surround them. Our learners will develop skills to approach science in a holistic way, by considering scientific thinking and practical skills alongside knowledge and understanding.

Computing

In our Camridge  curriculum, computing assists learners on how to utilize a computer and understand how computers work. The computing subject provides learners with the opportunity to look inside a computer in order to understand the different components. They will also develop coding and logical thinking skills in visual programming languages, such as Scratch, and learn that computers can only perform actions that humans ask them to do.

Afrikaans

The Cambridge curriculum, Afrikaans as a Second Language is for learners who already have a basic knowledge of the language.

  • Suitable for learners whose native language is not Afrikaans
  • Develops the learner's ability to understand and use Afrikaans in a variety of situations
  • Improve learners' awareness of the nature of language and language learning skills in reading, writing, and listening.
  • It focuses on everyday, practical communication, which also serves as a foundation for in-depth language study.

isiZulu

The Second Language IsiZulu is designed for learners who already have a working knowledge of the language and wish to develop their understanding in order to further their academic or professional careers.

This qualification reflects the widespread use of isiZulu in education, commerce and entertainment across Southern Africa. Through learning, the learner will be able to understand how to use her isiZulu effectively in situations their encounter in their daily life and in isiZulu-speaking environments.
